Council Meeting – November 28, 2011
The meeting of the Council of the Village of South River was held on Monday, November 28, 2011 in the South River Council Chambers. A quorum was present. In attendance were Mayor Coleman, Councilors O’Hallarn, Smith, Mahon and Dickerson.
Staff in Attendance: Susan Arnold, Clerk-Administrator and
Sherri Hawthorne, Treasurer.

IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Village of South River does hereby direct
the Clerk Administrator to write a letter to the Parry Sound Ambulance Service
explaining Risto Maki’s contribution to the volunteer fire department and
request any assistance in order to keep him as Fire Chief.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Village of South River does hereby accept the collection and disposal proposal submitted from BFI in the amount of $107/metric Tonne for waste and $12.00/metric Tonne for recyclables and a collection cost of $1,003.24/week for both waste and recycling with the contract to commence January 1, 2012 and expiring December 31, 2013.

8. Council Roundtable (Items of Interest)
* Airport Discussion scheduled for Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. upstairs at the South River Machar arena. All Councils have indicated they will be attending.
* South River Machar Business breakfast meeting scheduled to take place at the South River Legion starting at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2011.
* Bernard Rocheforte have been working in the building getting rid of air pockets trapped in the lines which have been disrupting the heating cycle of the geothermal unit.
* The MLEO’s last day is Wednesday, November 30, 2011. As there wasn’t a response to the advertisement for interested persons to fill the animal control portion of this position the Village is currently without an animal control officer.
* South River Machar Christmas Celebration Activities are scheduled for Friday, December 16, 2011. Lighting competition was advertised in the November 24, 2011 Almaguin News.
* Bill O’Hallarn discussed changes to the Housing services Act and their effect on municipalities. A presentation will be made at the January 26, 2012 Steering Committee meeting in the South River Machar Arena.
* Les Mahon announced the two HazMat dates in 2012 will be May 26 and August 25. During 2011records indicate 342 households used the HazMat service and 329 vehicles attended the HazMat sites.

first, second and third time and finally pass By-law 39-2011, being a by-law to

Mayor and the Clerk Administrator and the corporate seal affixed.
