Just a few minutes drive from downtown South River is Mikisew Provincial Park .
Mikisew Provincial Park's sandy beaches on the shores of Eagle Lake and lush forest is a natural backdrop for a getaway. The plentiful sand found in the park was left behind by glacial Lake Algonquin. Today, walk along the shoreline of what was once an island and two beaches: evidence of this ancient lake that covered the area more than 10,000 years ago.
