The meeting of the Council of the Village of South River was held on Monday, May 10, 2010 in the South River Council Chambers. A quorum was present. In attendance were Mayor Coleman, Deputy-Mayor Mahon and Councillors Dickerson and O’Hallarn.

 

Staff present was Susan Arnold, Clerk-Administrator.

 

Public present was Robert Barker, Resident.

6.         Roundtable

 

Geo-thermal drilling will commence on Monday, May 10, 2010. Neighbouring residents will be advised the drilling will commence in the morning and continue until 10:00 p.m. for five days drilling a maximum of two holes per day. Everyone’s patience will be greatly appreciated.

 

Demolition began on the house located at 20 Marie Street. The demolition company has signed an agreement with the Village to repair any and all damage caused to municipal property as a result of this demolition.

 

Work on the Beach Volley Ball pt has begun and garbage cans, benches, bike racks, etc are beginning to be placed around the community.

 

The South River Power Generation Corporation is progressing toward commissioning in May/June. Insurance has been purchased for the corporation following the construction and wrap up insurance expiration. Site Clean-up will also be addressed at the May 11, 2010 Board of Directors meeting with the staff.

 

The Village was approved a summer student to assist in the research and digitalization of cemetery information from the existing paper note cards.

Mayor Coleman and Councillor Mahon acknowledged the opening of a new business in town, ‘In Carnations’.

 

Mayor Coleman commented on all the positive initiatives happening in the village.
