The meeting of the Council of the Village of South River was held on Monday, January 25, 2010 in the South River Council Chambers. A quorum was present. In attendance were Mayor Coleman, Deputy-Mayor Mahon, Councillors Dickerson and Scott.

 

Councillor Parker was absent with permission (Resolution # 319-2009).

 

Staff present was Susan Arnold, Clerk-Administrator and Sherri Hawthorne, Treasurer.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Council of the Village of South River does hereby approve that Hunter Street be closed between Ottawa Avenue and Montreal Street on Saturday, February 13, 2010 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  to safely accommodate the Lion’s Club Winterfest activities.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Council of the Village of South River does hereby approve the request for funding from the South River Lions Club in the amount of $167.00, as it has in the past, as its share of the $500 Don Ivens Memorial Community Volunteer Award which is split between the South River Lions Club, Machar Township and the Village of South River. The award will be donated in the name of this year’s recipient to a local charity of their choice.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Council of the Village of South River does hereby authorize the Corporation of the Village of South River, on behalf of the five municipalities which own the South River – Sundridge District Airport, to apply for funding for the Airport’s Land development Plan.

5.         Roundtable

 

Councillor Mahon announced the new chairperson for CAEDA is Merlyn Snow, Strong Township.

 

Work on the Geo-thermal project has begun. Our engineer has asked for a drilling schedule from the well drillers and will provide the Village with it as soon as it is available. Drilling was supposed to start during the first two weeks of January.

 

The Drinking Water Distribution System Inspection will take place Wednesday, January 27th.

 

The PSAB Audit Inspection is scheduled for January 27 and 28.

 

A meeting will take place with Dom Marleau regarding funding application for Airport Development Plan.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Village of South River does hereby read a first, second and third time and finally pass By-law 3-2010, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on the 25th day of January, 2010 with the signatures of the Mayor and the Clerk Administrator and the corporate seal affixed.
